regulator-based MBC vs. WG spring/preload

Hi Steve,

What do you mean wait for the boost to kick in? It seems to me that there is no need for boost on the upper chamber, unless boost is in the lower chamber.

You may be referring to having an in-cabin mounted regulator. Mine is under the hood, but I imagine if the lines are long enough, there could be a delay in the pressure reaching the upper chamber. My car doesn't have a perceptible delay I think.

Is it true that the WG won't ever open, except when the diaphgram is diplaced by pressure in the lower chamber? I mean, it's not possible for the exhaust pressure itself to get past the wastegate, unless intake manifold pressure is enough to push the diaphragm, right?

Thanks,

Ken
