One school of thought is that a new part is ...well....NEW, and therefore
will work better and last longer than a used part.
Another school of thought (the school I went to FWIW) says "If it ain't
broke, don't fix it".
A mechanical component that has been used, is proven GOOD. A certain % of
new components will be defective. I prefer to use proven good used
components over new where possible. Obviously there are exceptions - timing
belt being one of them. But I don't advocate replacing parts with new "just
because". I know some listers will strongly disagree but let's remember I
am just sharing my opinion, not decreeing a new law. :)
