pulling 5kT down-pipe / starter

Thanks to Huw and Dennis; they were both right about the nuts being in the
back. But I'm getting REALLY frustrated...There seems to be no room for any
tools, between the front suspension and down-pipe. It seems both the
starter and down-pipe are in the way of removing each other. The nuts on
the down-pipe to corrugated pipe flange are disintegrated into rounded
blobs of rust. I wanted to put on a nut-splitter but there's no room to fit
it completely around the nut. I dread having to cut through the corr.
pipe...don't want to even imagine the cost. Anyone have any cool ideas/past
experience for this??? Thanks for the advice.
