4kq gear whine

i had a similar issue, mine was whining to the extent that the car sounded
like it was in reverse at all times..
especially on throttle, and off throttle, turned out to be mainshaft
bearings get the mobil 1 out of the gearbox
it is not a GL-4 oil it's a gl-5 which is a no no for quattro gearboxes (At
least pre-torsen)
the way i resolved my whining issue was to go to the local picknpull and
grabbed the 4000q's gearbox for $35
it is working great :)
BTW, mine shifted fine as well and diff locks worked fine, just an annoying
whining. was kinda embarrasing.
