Yes Sir, all kinds of thoughts.

I have just gone through the same scenerio and here's the info that I
have ended up with.

I'v done a search on all the search engines naming first off all
Girling.

If I got any bites , I would then send off my casting numbers. These
numbers , by the way were sent to the UK, Italy and a couple of
countries which I can't remember. I tried Jaguar and other English
makes and sent varied inquiries to any one who had used Girling,

Then I ran into the sale of Girling to Lucus (Heart of Darkness) as
anyone who has driven a Triumph, Matchless, Veloccete, etc motorcycle
can attest.

Then I thought I hit it when I found out that the whole thing was under
TRW. I called the main numbers at TRW on the west coast who referred me
to a distributor on the east coast in New York The fellow bent over
backwards to help me but still to no avail.

Driving through Durham, North Carolina one day I noticed a new Volvo
dealer where an old Jag shop used to be. I went in and inquired and the
guy brought out a Lucas packaged , 4 guide pins, 4 bolts with dry
locktite, and four protective bootes. Wrong size! They were too big.

I posted this to the list and , in particullar to a person whose posts
had hit the mark every time. My suggestion was to drill the carriers
out to accept the new guide pins. His suggestion, if memory serves
correctly, was that combing the junkyards and finding replacements would
be better than drilling out the carriers to accept the larger guide
pins. (Whithout naming the lister, this fellow has always been on the
forefront of anything having to do with our Audis and in my opion,
speaks with much authority.)

I am currently canvassing the local yards, send me you model and year.
If I come up with anything, I'll let you know.
