UrQ steering shaking at speed: me too.

I am in the same boat.

Brake pedal does not pulsate at all. New front Boge struts, “green” front strut mounts and front wheel bearings. Tie-rods and ball joint looks OK, as well the A-arm bushings (very stiff). Discs were cleaned and the mounting surfaces + the hubs were sandblasted as well when I did the bearings. Pads are VW-Audi brand.
Other parameters are:
Summer tires: New Dunlop SP5000 on Ronal 6 inchers, light shimmy on steering at 60-70 mph, no shake at all on hard braking, steering shakes BADLY when I just feathers the brake pedals.
Winter tires: 1 year old Pirelli W240 on non-hubcentric steel wheels, every parameter is worst with these wheels

I will replace the guide pins tonight, just to be sure. I will check rotor balance, just to be sure.

Q1: could it be the main drive-shaft, with a bad CV or U-joint ? When applying brake, front tires compress, rolling diameter is less than rear, torque is induced in the DS and vibration occurs ?
Q2: If it’s the rotors, then why no vibrating brake pedal? Because our cars are hydraulically-assisted, and this device “absorbs” more than a vaccum assist ?

Other question, not related.

Q3: I need a diagram of the wiring for a standard sealed-beam hi-low headlamp. H4 is a different wiring pattern and since both filaments share the same ground, I ended cross-wiring lows and highs
Yeah, I know, this is trivial to everybody but I completed this job last night at 1:00

Thanks in advance,

I seem to have a similar shaking problem with my UrQ
right now. I have a new rack, bushings, tie rods,
struts and strut bearings. I am getting a vibration
in the wheel under high speed braking. I have
narrowed it down to my slightly less than round wheels
or my brake rortors. I am not sure it is my rotors as
I feel no pulsation in the brake pedal, just the
steering wheel. My wheels are not bad, but not
stellar either. I am running -2deg of camber on et50
wheels. Any ideas? Is it a geometry problem, or just
warped rotors? Can you turn drilled & Slotted rotors,
or do I just need to bite the bullet and replace them.
They only have a few thousand miles on them though.
Thanks

Eric Harten
