Wow! I'm quite impressed. Looks really nice, Elliot.
I'll have to swing by, and give it a look-see. How soon are you planning o=
n putting the intercooler and exhaust on the car?
Congrats!

Hello all...
I'm pleased to report that the MC-1 turbo swap into my 86 4kq took place th=
is last weekend.
After wrestling to get the engine on the transmission and tracing down all =
the miscellaneous connections that had to be made, the engine fired to life=
at around 10:30 on Monday morning (yes, I took off work to make time for t=
he swap).
Right now, the car is running fine (sans intercooler for right now) but is =
experiencing ISV issues that are causing idle problems. The thing sounds d=
amn cool with just the downpipe and open exhaust though. I love hearing th=
e turbo wind up... Looks like I'll be spending the rest of the upcoming day=
s buttoning the car up so I can test drive it and get an exhaust on it.
I posted some pics through an MSN group. See below for the link. You'll n=
otice some parts sourced from MSwanson and some ideas pirated from others t=
hat have done the swap. Imitation is flattery, right?

Click on the pictures menu on the left to see the albums. They only let me=
have 3 mb of space, so there are limited pics up until the test running of=
the engine. All comments are welcome...
I'd like to thank everyone who helped me with all my piddly questions on th=
is project: Chris Semple (MC kit), Monsieur Swanson (on-call tech support),=
Javad, Jim Green, Jeff Hemmerlin, Dave Spriggs (always right), Huw as well=
as some that I might have forgotten. The list has been a greatly apprecia=
ted, helpful resource during this project.
Big thanks also goes out to fellow lister Derek Leep who flew in from Seatt=
le to help with the project and to rate Cincinnati's Indian food. Derek ha=
d done the swap to his 4kq a year ago and was the "answer man" in the month=
s leading up to the project as well as the wiring master during the swap. T=
he project wouldn't have gone very far without his help, careful documentat=
ion and attention to detail.
It occurs to me that although a good deal of the project can be considered =
complete, this is probably just the beginning...
Enjoy.
