Coupe GT Turbo Conversion

On this subject, I was looking at doing this in an '85 4kq, not project
GTQ1 which is going to be a built up NG motor, but perhaps taking one of
the motors I have and using some of the turbo parts from MC engines. It
would have to be using mostly things I have on hand and doing a project
GTQ2. Can the MC manifold and downpipe be used, or does some other
manifold downpipe combo needed?

What are the major caveats of the swap? eg. something about a tie rod end,
fitment problems, etc. I'm not looking for over the 220HP you can get with
a chip, as that would be outrageaous enough, especially since this car is
just a beater anyway. For that matter, I could even delete the intercooler
for the "rough draft", or maybe the fact that the AC is already removed
from the car, would help. The car was a stripped out rally car in its
previous life.

It looks like Elliott can help you out! Congrats to
him. Anyways there seem to be a ton of different ways
now days. It all depends on your untimate goal, and
how much time you want to put in it. Cheep and
cumbersome is to put the whole MC fuel and ignition
system in with the motor for example. This also
limits you to ~ 275 hp max. Or you can add extra
fuleing with a supplementary EFi conroller to your
existing system, but may be limited still.

The way I would do it is save enough money for a good
intercooler, full EFI, and use an MC ignition system.
This will get you better peformance right away than
the MC system ever could, and if you ever want insane
power, you just have to upgrade the turbo and EM to
give you some better flow. Here are some sites off
the top of my head in addition to mine.

Some of these are for the 90q, but the only difference
is the flywheel you'll use.
