Ben,
The noise I was hearing was more of a metal on metal rubbing than a clunk. I
would suspect that your issue is with a strut bearing (or something else in
the suspension), not with a cracked steering mount rack. BTW, I have been
getting a clunk in my '92 100S also, but it is coming from the passenger
side (the cracked mount was on the driver side). I had my strut bearings
replaced at ~75k when I had my Bilsteins installed, so I hope that is not
the problem already.
