3B flywheel-clutch swap to MC questions

DeWitt,
I don't recall the details. If I remember correctly, I had to do something
with a spring clip to put the throwout bearing on the transmission fork. I
may have even had a 5000 throwout bearing, or 4000 TOB for that matter.
There may be a difference I am not aware of. Probably you want to have a
5000 TOB on hand in case there is a difference. I think I ordered the
clutch kit which had everything in it - Pressure Plate, clutch disk, and
throwout bearing for a 200 from thepartsconection. The flywheel I had
obtained from Chris Semple.
It all went together quite well, so I did not note any detail of part
interchanging with the throwout bearing, only that I removed the old one
from the fork/spring clip, and intalled the new one. I also did the slave
cylinder at that time, as well - The old one pretty much fell apart upon
removal.
I did take measurements, because at the time I was trying to do a
conversion on a 4000 Q using an aluminum flywheel that was made up for a
model 90. There were to many differences and I could not see how to make
that work, in that case. But for the 200 flywheel into a 5000 I there was
no problem and all external dimensions were the same. I really have no
clue what a 200 trans looks like, just the design of the flywheel is such
that mass of the flywheel has been removed from the outer edge and put onto
the pressure plate. All external dimentions are other wise the same,
including the spines on the pressure plate.
Hope this helps. Q-list copied in case there is some descrepancy I
overlooked - I definately don't want to give you bum advice.
Good luck with the project!
Ben

Hi Ben. Thanks for this good news. I have a couple
questions. You used 200's TOB? Then didn't you
have to use a release fork from a 200 as well? And did
that fork mount up in the tranny OK? I really appreciate
your help.
