So that means finding a machine shop with the equipment to mold the
right threads on the right kind of plastic, right?

It's also possible to buy the finished part from the dealer... which I
would call coming full circle...

It makes sense to me for people to make things we want that aren't
available the way we want them (schrapnelknobbi, EFI computers and fuel
rails, QLCC chips, recharging bombs, etc.) but it seems odd to try to
make something that can be readily bought in finished form.  Granted,
the price as quoted makes it seem a bit egregious to do so, but wouldn't
it be cooler to make a part that Audi *doesn't* make or have anymore?
Like new covers for the late type 85 bumper mount, for instance?
