Ceci,
Oh, no. Not again. You have a two part master and hydraulic boost
cylinder combination. It sounds like what was ordered was the
hydraulic boost cylinder.
You need to find some folks who can work on this car for you. It is
not that complicated, but they should at least have the correct repair
manuals for it, otherwise, more mistakes are bound to happen.
FYI the brakes have a anti-lock portion which is fed by the master
cylinder. The hydraulic booster provides additional braking force to
the master cylinder in effect amplifying the force of your foot.
Recalling your last round of questions, you needed the master, not the
booster. Hold onto the booster for now until everything fixed, as you
may need that.
Try ordering stuff from thepartsconnection.com. Rod may not know
exactly what part you need, but he will ask enough questions to make
sure the right part is ordered or force you to double check. Also,
you'll save a lot of money on parts.
Hope you get those brakes fixed soon.
Cheers,
Ben
Hi,
Just got a call from the shop I took my '89 200 Turbo to get the brake
master cylinder changed. It seems that they've been trying to find the
part at different aftermarket suppliers, but no one seems to fit. The
cylinder they send appears as to be as the one for this model & year,
but it is longer, and the fittings are not the same and you cannot put
the reservoir in place over it. Anyone has ever heard of two different
Brake Master Cylinders for the 1989 200? Any help appreciated
Thanks
