The saga continues...

Well, tried to do the injector trick that someone recommended -- yank
injector out, turn on fuel pump, play with air sensor plate and see what
happens. Pulling and leveraging the first 3 injectors (trying to see which
is easier) it just about took the jaws of life to get one of them out. I
don't have the Audi tool, if I ever decide to swap them, I will have to buy
one...

Ether way, got the injector out, put it in a bottle, went to bypass the pump
relay.... Nothing... Pump not coming on. I'm like WTF?! It worked last
night!! Ran a live wire down to the pump, nothing... Checked the battery for
juice, its fine... Yanked the pump, hooked it up dry and I can feel/hear it
twitching but definately not doing what it should.

Man I hope that has been the problem all along... Maybe it was on its last
legs cutting in and out randomly (although the problem was too predictable
for that...)

Ether way, call Audi dealer, they want $210 for the pump and its 3-4 days
out. Go to Schucks website, they have one for $140, lifetime warranty and
there is one at the warehouse within driving distance. Picked it up, it
looks hardly anything like my pump. Instead of barbed ends it has threads
and the "out" port has threads and holes on the side as if it was made for
an i-bolt type setup, however there is absolutely no space for an i-bolt
because the power terminals are like 2mm away... Ether way tried to hook up
the lines to it. The intake side worked well enough, the "out" side did not.
Even with the hose tightly around the port, the holes have enough pressure
to spray like crazy everywhere.

Again, soaked in fuel and with 40 degree temperature outside, decided to
call it a day...

MAN, I hope this is the problem! Tomorrow going to go to schucks and or
hardware stores to try and find some sort of an adaptor to fit that funky
threaded end to a barbed fitting...
