Britt,

Soak the roll pin from both sides with Kroil or another suitable
penetrating oil. Also soak where the slave meets the transmission. If you
do not have Kroil or do not know what it is, you should investigate and
purchase some. I highly recommend it as the best penetrating oil I have
ever found.

Take off the drivers wheel and go in from there.

I used was all of my socket extensions (IIRC a 3", 6" and 12"), an old
beater socket, duct tape and two punches.

I put the striking-with-hammer end of a punch sized to drive out the roll
pin into the rectangular hole of one of the extensions. Then I put another
larger punch as a splint overlapping this area and wrapped it all very well
with duct tape. Though it was not perfectly straight, this gave me
stiffness between the socket extension and punch. Then I attached the other
two socket extensions inline with the first one. Now I had a very long
punch, but I did not want to beat on the end of one of my socket
extensions. I have a cheap Chinese set of sockets - throwaways made for
abuse without care. I chose a socket sized nicely to allow me a place to
hit with my hammer and put that on the end of the extensions.

Now I had a long punch that would reach from the wheel well to the roll pin
at the slave. I went in by the tie rod. The slight angle between the punch
on the end and my socket extensions actually proved useful because it let
the punch line up better with the roll pin.

HTH,
Eric
