Speaking of which, the lady friend and I were on a trip last weekend
and we spotted an Alaska plate in upstate NY. I was driving my 200Q (mAC).

Wondered what was an Alaskan doing in NY in November, warming up?

BTW, not a very exciting plate. Orange w/black lettering and an Alaska profile in the middle.

Definitely a road trip.  As for the time, make it quality time with the kids
by taking one (or more) of them along. Depending on their ages, they can
a) drive, b) plan the drive and stops, c) count out of state license plates.
If you take all three, Mom would probably love the time off.  Then you can
say you're doing it for her. :-)
