'87 5ks cyl head: work for '86 CGT?

Greetings,

The Hangar Queen's almost ready to get tags, methinks... the downpipe and 0=
2 sensor made all the difference. But Tom's CGT is gathering dust.

This is the one we put a new headgasket/TB/WP in, due to coolant plumes out=
the pipe. As there is still water in #1 cyl and the oil is clean (and the =
head isn't warped) I'm thinking head crack I couldn't see when we had it ap=
art. As such he is driving a borrowed '89 Pontiac LeMans (Daewoo crud) and =
wishing for the Coupe back.

We have access to a nearly free '87 (11/86) 5ks engine which looks to be in=
good health. WU code states the firewall tag. 2309 cc and 10:1 compression=
, if memory serves.

Is the compression difference in the dished pistons? Or would this head be =
utterly impossible to make work with the 2226cc engine in the GT?

(It's only because of the unbeatable price I'm wondering about this. Just t=
rying to get another ancient Audi roadworthy- thoughts from the gallery?)

Regards,
Rob
