Bad luck and crappy Audi factory jack

Well, I've stopped a few times today to sit a bit and read the digests, and
this thread makes me wonder why the vast majority of a group of devotees of
mostly elderly and high mileage cars doesn't appear to have the REAL answer
to this problem. I carry my roadside service kit in my wallet. Have a
mechanical problem? Run out of gas? Gotta flat? Dial the toll free number
on the AAA card, wait a little while, and the answer to your problem drives
up in his tow truck. And, at least in California, AAA offices are like DMVs
with no wait, have great road maps, travel guides and tips. Make
reservations for you too. For a bit extra, you can get extended mileage
tows on a yearly basis. Annual cost is likely to be less than the cost of
the first tow.
No, I'm not a shill, guys, just a satisfied customer of almost 40 years.
Makes good sense to me. Since my sons drive older and less than perfect
cars, they carry the card too. BTW, in all the German cars I've had over
the years, probably 70-75 of 'em, I've never seen one with what I'd consider
a "safe" jack.
My $.02, John
