even in heavy rains if you dont feel comfortable. it makes highway driving at 80 or 90 mph through 6" of fresh snow in a blizzard much more comfortable.

As I said before, I speak from a been there done that perspective.  When I got my first quattro, I was of course excited to find out what all the hype was about.  Quattro, it's the ultimate in all wheel drive performance.  That, it can be.  I was quickly brought back to earth when I took a turn on a snowy cross street going about 25 MPH on snow tires.....200 dollars worth of new control arms was the price I paid. Lesson learned, as well as a new respect for curbs.  I chalked it up to my own personal inexperience.  I need to go to a high performance driving school I thought.   Bring in Summit Point novice driving school.  Money spent, knowledge gained.  So months later, motoring along at 90 MPH in rain,  I use all my 500 dollars worth of experience to recover from a skid.  And recover I did, actually, I over recovered and introduced my 4kq to a three foot concrete divide.  As many may know, when you lose it in these cars, you don't lose it for very long before it comes right back...I guess the point I try to make is that it's quattro, it aint magic.  You have to respect the driving conditions of any road and use the cars we drive as an added saftey measure.  I don't want to start any trouble but advising someone they can drive through 6" of snow at 90 MPH with the added safety of a locked center differential is madness.   Of course this is just my own view from a BTDT perspective.
