curious about turbos

so i'm curious about what people do to tune turbos. I know you can get
turbines and compressor blades in different sizes, and that they need to be
matched somewhat. So what happens when you change the compressor size,
keeping everything else the same? What about just the turbine? I assume
like everything in nature, there are pro's/con's to each change. Big thanks
