Well and truly cooked my brakes, after 3 laps of a mad little handling
circuit my brakes were smoking like crazy, instructor had me cruise up and
down slowly whilst they cooled off a bit...also my S01s on the back are a
lot less grippy than the S03s on the front - cue un-Evolike (according to
instructor at least) oversteer, high speed at least (completely befuddled
AYC, hence some 60mph+ spins - highly amusing too!)

It was more an educational type day, only 4 cars (supposedly a Lotus day,
although when we got there there was me, Matt in his Elise, some ginger in a
1.8 Mondeo (nice!) and a bloke in a Cerbera!). We all got to ride in each
other's cars, which was cool - Cerbera has some degree of poke, but seemed a
real handful to drive. He had to leave slightly early...as he was leaving,
I jokingly offered my keys so we could each try the other's car - he
actually said he would've, but didn't have the time. Gutted! I would've
suggested it earlier if I'd thought he'd agree... ;-(

Fastest laps were:

57.9s - Me J

58.1s - Cerbera

60.0s - Matt

68.0s - Mondeo ginger

The instructor managed 55 dead in both mine and Matt's car, don't know what
he did in the Mondeo and he didn't drive the Cerbera (it was the Cerbera's
second time there, so he didn't need the instructor so much)...

I was chuffed, despite the fact that it had little or less to do with skill
- my car was just much easier to drive rapidly than the RWD boys...plus the
ABS and massive brakes (we did a stopping from 70mph test - mine was
shortest, TVR was a car length further, and the Elise a car length beyond
that...Mondeo didn't get to 70mph by the braking mark!)

Ho hum, no doubt more amusing stories about the day to come from me yet...

One other thing, the Mondeo man was a right boy racer, told me that he
thinks the Mondeo is one of the best handling cars in the world, period (he
also told the instructor that he's raced Elises, Evos and Cerberas before,
and beaten them all). Oh, and one last last thing, I did 50 miles and used
6 gallons of petrol...!!
