ground location

I didn't consider any part of the original headlight circuit to be made of
wire sufficiently heavy enough to carry the loads I was demanding in my new
eurolight quad headlight circuits.

On my 87 5ktq, I used the original harness grounds only for the low amp
(switching) circuits of my 4 new relays when I wired my lights with #10
fine strand copper directly from the underseat battery all the way to the
headlights. I used a similar #10 wire to connect the negative battery
terminal to the headlight area, and then I taped the high amp side of the 4
headlight branches into it to return the current to the battery, with a
branch to a bolt near the alternator. Probably a little overkill. Nothing
heats up anywhere, including the cabin switch.

It isn't that much trouble to run that extra ground wire, to match the low
resistance circuits you are creating to get the electrons to the filaments.
AND, your battery is right up there in the engine compartment anyhow in the
4kq.

Consider using some fuses in those new circuits, and some distribution
blocks to start and end the individual lamp circuits.
