Just replaced the driver's side seat belts on both my cars, and I have to
tell you, this is a nice little task. The feel of a new belt sliding
smoothly when you give it a tug makes you feel like you're in a new car. And
this is of course one of the first things you touch before a drive.
Just a quick BTDT...when you purchase a new belt, the reel is locked until
you install it in the vehicle. I was sure that my second belt was defective,
as I couldn't see anything to remove or unlock, and I didn't remember this
with the first belt.
The parts guys at Clair assured me that this is standard with Porsche and
Audi belts, and sure 'nuff, after I installed the belt, it worked properly.
I still can't figure out what unlocks the reel, but that's okay, it works :)
