The early-to-mid 1990s Passat (typically, but IMHO erroneously coined
"B4") is *not* Audi derived.  It is more like a stretched VW A-platform
(Golf/Jetta/Corrado), with its engine mounted transversely and uses
the VW 02A series cable-operated transaxle (for manual trans cars).
Its suspension is virtually identical to that found on the Corrado.

All other generations of Passats (Dasher, Quantum, and the current Passat)
are truly Audi derivatives.
