BTDT this weekend Chris. Replaced the clutch in my 86 5ktq and my
conclusion is that there is NO WAY that the clutch slave is going to come
out without dropping the tranny right out, NO WAY. Maybe when the car had
2000kms on it, but definitely not at 290,000kms. Unfortunately, you have to
remove it in order to actually get the tranny out. In my case, we elected
to abuse the rubber hose going to the clutch (which now needs to be
replaced)
However, the clutch slave still has to come out because it has to be turned
in order to put it on the new line, before being installed in the tranny. I
had to beat on it furiously to get it out, hence the clutch slave also needs
to be replaced. Then again at 290000 kms, it was probably due. I do not
want to drop that tranny again in the near future! Real PITA!

Sorry, I don't know the size of the rollpin. I hope the new slave comes
with one.

Stephane
