My hydraulic pump belt is coming loose about every 1,000 miles. I've also
had to replace the belt with only about 4,000 miles on it. The belt was
all
deformed with this low mileage. Any suggestions out there?

Check to make VERY SURE that the pulley groove is EXACTLY in line with
the additional pulleys. Make sure that you are using a belt that has the
CORRECT side angle, on the belt, to MATCH the correct side angle on the
pulleys. Make sure that the belt sits correctly in the pulley - not too
far down in the pulley, and not up out of the pulley. Most American belts
will NOT match European pulleys exactly correct, though they may be close.
Make sure that none of the pulleys are bent, or have nicks in the groove
area. Make sure that the belt tension is correct, and not overtightened.
Make sure that there is no fluid being thrown onto the belt or pulleys
(such as oil or coolant).
