I did this once (or twice) for my coupe.  It was not fun, and I think it
will be worse on the type 89 because of the electrically driven
odometer.  maybe not.

You will want to somehow carefully pull the shaft that the numbers roll
on, and then reassemble with them reset to your actual mileage.  Watch
out, they can be set (on the type 85 at least) right on the number or
half off if you're not careful.
