We had a 1982 Volvo wagon when I was growing up. When it was less than a year
old, we started having major electrical problems -- shorts all over the
place. The car was probably entirely rewired (under warranty, fortunately) by
the time they were done. My favorite result of the shorts was when you could
push down the driver's door lock button and the radio would go on.
