I've just driven home in my new-to-me 1999 A6q. Various audifans have picked up on the fact that I
totaled my gorgeous 1992 100CS 5-spd back on 10/4/2002 (the car performed admirably in it's last
ditch effort to keep me safe), and I needed a new car.
I wanted to pick up a sportier vehicle as a replacement, but I found that my needs and wants
pushed me towards a used '99 A6q. I considered a few VWs (GTI, Jetta GLI/1.8t, and Passat 1.8t),
but a single trip in an A6 convinced me to stick with Audis. I briefly considered an UrS6, but I
wanted something of a younger vintage. In all honesty, the car I WANT is an A6 2.7t with 6-spd,
but because this was a surprise situation, I just couldn't swing the dough necessary, an A6q 2.8
was the way to go.
It appears that I've bought myself a '99 A6q at 46k miles in Volcano Black with a tan interior
(not sure if it's "Sand" or not) and the following packages: Convenience, Cold Weather, and
Enhanced Security.
I drove the car from the CT/RI border back to Massachusetts in some VERY wet conditions; perfect
situation to get a feel for the quattro system, which my first Audi lacked. Let me tell you, the
car never wavered along the interstate through puddles and wet roads up to speeds approaching 85
mph. Solid is an understatement here.
Thought a few people would want to know, so there you go... for under a month I was not part of
the Audi family, but I've returned. ;-)
