Taka,
I replaced the rotors on my personal car after (easily) 2 dozen track
days, 25,000 street miles, and 5 or 6 sets of pads (including some aggressive
track pads). Needless to say, I can't complain! Replacement rotor cost is
$250. each (before discounts for listers), slotted, cad plated. There should
be no need to cut them down on a lathe before replacement since they are a
truly floating rotor. It's worth noting that Stoptech rotors fot Brembo
style hats (and vice-versa). Time-wise to replace is fairly quick.
1. Jack up and remove wheels
2. Remove bridge bolts (t-handle 5mm allen wrench) (2 each caliper)
3. Pull out pads, retract pistons
4. Remove 1/2" caliper mounting nuts (2 each caliper). Slide caliper off of
bracket (brake line stays attached of course) and remove rotor and hat
assembly.
5. Disassemble rotor from hat (10 allen head bolts).
6. Reverse to assemble, torque all bolts to spec.

As you can see, very straight forward. Any brake kit will be similar (remove
wheels, calipers, then rotors), as is the factory setup.

I'd love to see any pics of your brake ducting- sounds interesting. I didn't
realize you owned and S4. Just FYI, most (if not all) rotors flow air from
the hub outward.
