Cracked manifold or broken studs..

My '89 80q with a 4-cyl 3A engine has got a loud ticking when I
accelerate with cold engine, it goes mostly away when the engine warms
up. It sounds just like an exhaust lead at the manifold. What is the
most common cause for this on 4-cylinder engines, and what do I do to
fix it?
