Trip computer into type 89

probably.  unless you are lucky and your car has the wiring for it
tucked away, it will be a nightmare.

I put a non-TC cluster in my (89) 90Q, because I hate the silly thing.
it has it's own discrete plug, separate from the rest of the IC.

If the one you found has different plugs for everything, I'd simply stay
away from it... you say it's an '87... is it the older body style?  In
which case, interchangeability is largely theoretical (enough money,
enough time, but,... why?)

I doubt it... naw, I don't... maybe from the downpipe back it will.
Should be the same floor pan, right?  both cars are FWD...
