Andybody here ever experiment with that stuff? I was just lookin through
theSummit catalog the other day and saw a few different wraps for turbos
andheaders. I'm eventually gonna do a 3" downpipe and wondered if that would
beworthwhile while I'm in there. Lower under-hood temps couldn't hurt I
spose.
I used this on my 3 inch UrQ down pipe in order to minimize some starter
heat soak I was getting on very hot, 90+, days. In a nutshell it didn't
help that symptom much. Thought the argument still stands for keeping the
gases hot and flow rate high. I may go with a heat deflecting blanket around
my starters heat shield, or just move the solenoid to a remote locale. If
your pipe is pretty curvey I would use the 1" vs 2" tape. Thermo Tec makes
some interesting stuff and I would think that the heat deflecting wrap would
be a nice add for the IC hoses, TB hose and maybe the flat sides of the IC.
They also make a Turbo blaket to cover the hot side and the first 6-8inches
of the downpipe.
