Greetings Audinauts!

I've been quiet, mostly because the 5ktq hangar queen is waiting for temper=
atures to cool down from 100 F before I spend a lot of time in the garage c=
hasing down its quirks. And the roommate's '86 CGT has ben working well, co=
nsidering the "Frankencoupe"nickname it's acquiring among friends. But it =
*is* acting up in a very predictable manner:

When he picked it up for $300, it had quirks, obviously. Most worryingwas t=
he cooling system debacle- a new cap/ t-stat, used reservoir, and rodded ra=
diator solved that for the Phoenix summer. Wow!
But now, she's spouting when driving stop-n-go. Tis the fan, cap'n, and sin=
ce jumping the wires @ the thermoswitch makes it work just fine...

Obviously, it's the switch. I've even already got the big socket to replace=
it. Local parts house sez special order, and $25.

Cheap for an Audi- but at the same place bac in '99, they had the switch fo=
r my departed '87 5kt on the shelf for $10. Said it was for some VW- can't =
remember which. Anyone? I'm betting there's a workable switch on the shelf,=
and probably lower temp to boot- but I can't eke this out of these guys, a=
nd the man's gotta get to work without melting that tough old 5!

Thanks!
Rob
