Everyone talks about weight up front, but if you read the
Audizine article, the V8 weighs the same as the 2.7T. I think
the big difference is the V8 is all-aluminum, I don't think the
V-6 has an aluminum block, that's the only way I can see them
having parity in weight.
There isn't that huge of a gap:
1.8T 170hp
3.0 220hp
4.2 340hp
The S4 is supposed to be a "special" model, hence the big hike
in power. The 2.7t is only 250hp stock, so it's not much of a
jump over the 3.0. In order to make it worthwhile, they would have
to hike the 2.7t to about 270-280hp, then it would be infringing on
the "regular" 4.2 in the A6 at 300hp.
