Shifting trouble: clutch pedal failure

Robert -

My clutch pedal broke at the hands, or rather the foot, of a tire shop
tech a week after the clutch was replaced. As the clutch (throwout
bearing?) comes closer to expiring, the force required at the pedal goes
up. I didn't know how high it was till I tried the new clutch.

These clutch pedals are cast aluminum, which doesn't have great fatigue
properties to begin with, and they aren't exactly over-engineered. I
believe one lister (maybe Igor?) went through two pedals in a matter of
months.
