Shifting trouble

I've noticed that my 86 5kTQw (180k miles) isn't shifting so smoothly
anymore- occaisionally having trouble getting it in gear and
occaisionally (less often) it grinds shifting from forward to reverse and
back.

Time to inspect the clutch hydraulics, I suppose?

What's this I keep reading about broken clutch pedals? I saw three reports
of being stranded by that- wondering if its related to my crunchy
shifter?

Also:  What's the service interval for changing tranny oil?  Anyone have
favorite (or bad) brands?  I'm thinking Mobile 1..

17mm hex key for the drain/fill plugs, right?
