I don't know about t89's, I have 44's and 85's, but
I got a couple packs of #73's from Hosfelt.com (don't use the same
size #74, 1/100th the rated life :( --and sold everywhere!).
For use in the socket'd applications, I uncurl the contact wires, remove
the side contacts from the original bulb, wrap on the new and replace.
Sometimes I do a small spot of solder on the outside, but often not, it's
sort of a press fit. BTW, I got some #73's at the FLAPS once and they
would not fit in the sockets. I lucked out at Hosfelt so bought a couple
more boxes next time I ordered.

Subject: Instrument Cluster Light Bulbs for Type 89
Hello List,
Many of the lights on my '88 90tq's instrument cluster are out. I removed
the cluster last night hoping to replace the burnt out bulbs with extras
I've pulled from 5000s and 4000s. As you may know, the bulbs have different
holders so that won't work.
Anyway, I'd like to replace them all while I'm in there but I'd rather not
go the the $dealer$. Is there a cheaper source for these bulbs or are they
reasonable from the dealer (doubtful)? Does anyone sell a complete set?
TIA,
Chris
