Anyone made custom powersteering hoses for 89 200?

Has anyone ever made up power steering hose using hose fittings and hose
from the likes of Earls or Aeroquip? I'm thinking of pulling out the
steering rack at some point on my 200 (decided it will get a
precautionary rebuild and a good polish) and was thinking I might as
well have lines made up for it. Earls make some stainless braided hose
and fittings for these applications (although I think this is more for
hotrods than anything else). This would be a nice touch to what I am
doing. The hoses I have hanging in the engine bay now have some cracking
showing here and there.
I would like to make up new hoses, but not too keen on paying whopping
loads of cash to the locals and once again wind up with another job done
in inferior parts (judging by what I got back when I had my turbo's oil
lines rebuilt). So, if anyone has done this then I'd be interested in
any tips, especially regarding certain banjo fittings and tubes with
restrictors.
Thanks.
G.
