I'm glad to hear that you could use the pins. It wouldn't make sense
otherwise, but bureaucracy and stupidity run side by side.
Also, make sure that you use the captive ones, they are easier to operate,
safer(you can see if they are closed), and cleaner(no scuffs) that the ones
with a cable.
I've seen these IC's on Ebay, and I'm sure you can find it in boneyards.
