Fwd: RE: parking light fuses and mirror switch

The lid of my fuse box, is well, not in good shape as far as diagram.
There is a little paper left, but what shows through now is
German...Gotta love that.

I have disassembled my switch, compeltely. Steelwooled everything,
till it is nice and shiny. I put the switch back in, and the passenger
side mirror works great, but the drivers side mirror (both of the ones I
have) just click at me, in a most unfriendly way.

I even noticed that when I move the passenger mirror, the drivers
mirror would click a little too. Does anyone know how to test the
switch? IE first pin and sixth pin should have no resistance when X and
Y are done...That kind of thing. I am waiting (praying) that when the
Bently shows up, it can help with this one.

It is hard to test wiring without a schematic..;-(

Thanks,

Hi Cade,
The guide to fuses is in the lid of the fuse box. You can get
replacement
fuses at Autozone or similar.

In addition to cleaning the external terminals on the mirror switch,
you've
got to open up the switch and clean the inside.

--Using a small blade screwdrive, you can gently pry off the botton and
then
the top of the switch. DO THIS IN A LARGE PLASTIC BAG!
--The switch contains small BBs that sit on top of springs. The BBs
are
moved by levers and make the internal electrical connections. Make a
drawing
that notes the orientation of the cover of the switch to the body, and
the
internal placement of the levers and BBs.
--Gently use very fine steel wool to polish the copper on the circuit
board.
You probably will notice wear in the copper where the BBs are. If the
copper
isn't worn through, a simple cleaning should be enough. If the copper
is
worn through, the switch is finished
--Clean with a mild solvent(paint thinner) and let dry.
--Reassemble

HTH.
