pentosin substitutes revisited - verrrrrry interesting stuff

My apologies if this has already been brought to list attention. Didn't find
anything in the archives.

Just doing a bit of surfing and I cruised on over to the ZF website (the
guys who build our hydraulic pumps) to check out what they have to say.
There is a tech sheet which the link below will take you to.  This sheet
lists the APPROVED lubricants for their products, in particular, hydraulic
power assist steering systems.

The short list are Dexron and Mercon auto tranny fluid (mineral base)

Admittedly, under "steering systems with central hydraulic systems for cars"
it states to use the "lubricants recommended by the vehicle manufacturer"
But then again Pentosin is not even listed as an approved manufacturer
according to page 3 and 4.

I also noted that on a lot of sites, the oil is frequently referred to as
hydraulic/transmission fluid (or oil).

Just thought some of those looking for Pentosin alternatives might find this
interesting.
