86 5000 CSTQ and 87 5000s strut assemblies - same?

Help!  My brother-in-law whacked my '87 5000S Quattro into a curb and the shop's telling me the entire driver side strut assembly (including wheel bearing housing) is damaged.

I have an '86 5000 CSTQ parts car...are they interchangeable?
