2000 Audi A6 Avant Headlight washer problem

I am looking of help on a simple problem.  The headlight washers will not
retract unless I gently push them forward with my hands.  Each one gets
caught on the back side of the bumper opening, closest to the headlight.  I
suppose something is either bent or out of alignment, but it strikes me as a
little odd that it's happening equally on both sides.  I was hoping to get a
little advice before I start rooting around.
