High noon on the bellhousing, on a flat spot. Your original trans('85-'87)
would be US code followed by a build date, the '84 spec unit is a 6E trans
if I recall correctly(it's outside somewhere, and it's colder here than PA
was this morning).

Same final drive, yes, just different case design. You could use either one.
