Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who replied to my question about
extremely noisy lifters a few weeks back.  It turned out to be the aux.
vacuum pump.  Removed the rod and no more nasty noises!  I still have very
minimal lifter noise when it is cold and the exhaust leak is getting worse
and will be replacing it all soon, but the scary noise is gone!!!

My wife and I spent last weekend on the Oregon coast and drove the Audi
about 600 miles.  Ran flawlessly.  Several downpours on some very twisty
parts of Hwy 101 and it drove like it should.  We even had two 16' kayaks on
it most of the time looking for nice water, just not dumping from the sky.
