Clutchy weirdness, '85 90 (4k)

Hi all,

Went out together to collect a new arrival today, a 1985 Audi 90 FWD,
I-5 with (way cool!) digital dash.
It drives and runs great, but the clutch seems to be on the way out. It
engages at the bottom, makes some clonking noises and sometimes the
pedal won't come all the way up. I have a feeling it might be the
'finger' springs on the pressure plate. any ideas?
