Funny you should ask..Sean and I just installed the second Jorgen
rebuild in under 2 years. we started by following conventional
procedure, BTDT, etc. That is we were trying to get it out the
drivers side when in the middle of jostling it around it just popped
six inches or so right out the passenger side.
To make the short part of long story shorter - it turned out to be
easier getting it out the passenger side. Pretty much a straight shot
with no interference except the wiring harness which could be moved -
may need to cut a wire tie or to, but the car had been worked on before.
Some things that should have taken 5 min turned the long hortstorty
back into a long story, but (hic).. the rack is in, and seems to be
working fine - end of a long (hic) saga of fixing mysterious pentosin
leak on car with a rack that was pretty much brand new rebuilt just a
year ago.
Celebration at local Florida bars ensued assuring many typOos aNd
missing detaiLs in this post. Hic! Umm nice car..'87 5ktqa..going back
to MD tomorrow.

I got the rack out of my 84 parts car this weekend. The plan is to
rebuild it, then install in the daily driver 86 5ktq, minimizing
downtime.
I had a hell of a time getting it out of the parts car, and this was
with most of the engine compartment already stripped. Is it really
possible to change the rack without removing the wastegate, hydraulics,
etc?
Has anyone done this that would be willing to offer info - such as,
which is the best side to take the rack out - driver or passenger side?
TIA
Stephane
