Subject: Sudden Decelleration Stalling/Restarts

Hello All...

I know there was a thread about stalling...waiting...and restarting about a=
month ago. I can't recall what the recommendations for the fixes were. He=
re's run-down on my symptoms:

1=2E ' Leave the wagon at home and go to pick up my wife, adult daughter, a=
nd groceries two weeks ago, ... on the way home I slowed down quickly in th=
ird gear to accommodate someone essentially running a stop sign...84 4ksq d=
ies (this is a first!). Managed to make right at intersection and coast in=
to a parking lot. Car sits two minutes and cranks over perfectly... I fig=
ure this is the most weight I've ever had in the car and I must have simply=
over-loaded it and somehow over-heated some element.

2=2E Next day (Sunday) I take it on a test ride around town...no problems!=
, ...cool! I decide to take the car on an extensive ride up to Biddeford, =
Maine (from north-central Mass.) Car performs perfectly on the trip up. In=
Saco, Maine I slow down quickly again in third-gear to let an elderly lady=
pull out from a parking space...and the car dies...I coast into a parking =
spot... wait two minutes and the car starts perfectly. Identical situation=
happened again twenty minutes later. I drove the car back to Mass, withou=
t an incident,... The next day I contacted Rod at The Parts Connection and =
ordered a new Bosch fuel pump to replace the one on the car as it had "buzz=
ed" intermittently for two weeks previous to the stalling anyway (it was ol=
d when I bought the 84 4ksq five years ago).

3=2E I just installed the new fuel pump a couple of hours ago. I took it f=
or a test drive...no problem. I decided a half-hour ago that I would take =
it for a more extensive test ride (as I wanted to start taking it to work =
again tomorrow). As I was accelerating (actually in third-gear again), a l=
ady backed out of her driveway, without looking up and down the street, and=
I was forced to slow down quickly again...and got the same results as befo=
re....a stall.

I really don't pound on the car (184k miles), ...I can't figure-out what's =
causing the stalling,...any ideas folks? TIA

George B.
84 4ksq

BTW, car has a new fuel pressure accumulator (and lines to filter/accumulat=
or) and two new fuel filters, fresh Wix air filter and many other new parts=
that have been installed and working fine for months
