Thanks to all of the folks who responded to my WG diaphragm question.

After a lot of rainy weekend driving, my venerable 88 5ktq was parked only =
to be restarted at 4am on Sunday morning.  When cranked the dash light were=
 bright, the battery is good, but the starter turned slowly for a second or=
 two.  The second time I cranked the starter it turned once or twice and st=
opped.  Then I smelled electrical smoke.

Any clues to what kind of damage I have done?  I figure it is either the st=
arter wires or the key starter switch area.  Is there an easy way to diagno=
se, so I can stick some cheap used parts in there and go?
