If it was the key switch, you'd probably know that.
Starters are fairly easy.  Do you have or have access
to a "good" used one?  I find them quite often at
pick-n-pulls.  Often fairly new Bosch remans.  Alts.
also.  You can check the starter out on the ground
with jumper cables.  Step on it and hook the pos. to
the big nut, then rotate it so it touches the small
post.  Did I say stand on it?  You'll see why.  You'll
also immediately know the condition of your starter
motor.  They coil fit is very tight inside and when
they get old and varnished, they don't want to turn.
Ever slugged one with a hammer?  That's why.  HTHs.
